All hail the royals!

I know it's late. And I know everyone and their mother's cousin has posted about the royal wedding today.

And I decided that I don't care, and will commemorate Will and Kate's wedding on this here blog as well. Because, come one.. how cute are they?!

Can we talk about Kate's (sorry, Catherine's!) dress for a minute?? Gorgeous. I was amazed. She managed to pull of classic, traditional, and modern all at the same time. The woman is stunning.

And her second (party) dress! To die for.

Not going to lie, I want to BE her. My name does mean "crowned one" after all.

If you were the ocean, I'd learn how to float

Let's veer back to music. It's an essential part of any wedding day, yes? It can really set the tone for the ceremony, reception, etc.. from the processional to the recessional to the first dance to the last song. And everything in between.

I kind of wish we could do like 27 first dances so I could use every song that's in my "Wedding Possibilities" playlist right now. Sure, Stolen is always a possibility, but there are SO MANY other beautiful, perfect songs out there as well.

I discovered a lot of the songs that I'm loving right now thanks to TV and movie soundtracks. In fact, Mr. Foxy and I were watching Juno for the eleventy-billionth (not exaggerating) time a few months ago.. you know the opening scene, with the credits and cartoon? The song that plays during it.. I'm obsessed.

PRESS PLAY. now please.

We need this at our wedding. Somewhere in the ceremony. I know it sounds a little hokey with the harmonica and all, but I have a little trick up my sleeve and some family connections. It just so happens that my stepdad and stepbro are amazing musicians - the former sings and plays almost everything, and that latter is actually in a semi-popular up and coming band. I'm thinking that between the two, they can mix it up a bit so it works really beautifully as a processional song for the guys/girls/me/someone.

I just totally dig the lyrics and think it could be cute to boot.

And if Mr. Foxy didn't hate the following song so much, I'd totally use this as the processional instead and just dance down the aisle a la Michael Scott at Pam and Jim's wedding:

Loving!

Where did you get your music inspiration from?

Engagaversary!

Not only is it Tax Day today (thanks for that extension, Abe)... it's our 1 year engagaversary!

Benefit #24 of having a long engagement: new made up occasions to celebrate. Which we will absolutely be doing tonite, in style!

To be honest, it's also Scot's birthday on Thursday (minor detail ;) ).. and since I won't be in town, we decided to smush our engagaversary and his bday celebration all into one. I'm treating him to one of our favorite fancy pants restaurants for some steak and potato skins and omggggg I can't wait! Nom. We actually go to this place pretty much every year for his birthday - it's that darn delicious.

Bring on the gratuitous photos!

Yea, we were a bit delayed on this one.

Anyone else have some fabulous birthday traditions??

Are you my mama llama?

Or.. are you for reals my wedding heels?!

First and foremost, before we get to the good stuff, I LOVE ZAPPOS. If you haven't used them yet, find a reason to! Sure, they have a huge selection of shoes. Sure, they have free shipping. Sure, they have a 365 day return policy.

They also sent me two pairs of shoes within 24 hours of ordering them. I didn't even ask them to.. I was perfectly happy waiting 3-5 days for their standard free shipping when I ordered a few pairs one morning back in April. When I got an email early afternoon on the same day saying that they were already being shipped, I thought "sweet"! Then, when Mr. Foxy texted me around 1pm the day after to tell me that they were just delivered?

My jaw hit the floor. Amazing. And perfect, because I'm probably one of the most impatient people you'll meet.

As I mentioned, I made this purchase back in April - with spring and Easter season starting up, there were lots of pretty colored shoes out there that weren't available a few months prior. And one of those colors was fortunately turquoise.

Now remember when I said that my wedding shoes should ideally be closed toe and under 4"?

Yea, scratch that. Beggars can't be choosers. I need turquoise shoes. And the only ones I'll even consider are all coincidentally open toed and 4"+. I can't help it. It's my style.

So without further ado, options please!

rsvp Jaceline

Option numero uno: I included these on my list last time, and finally bought them. rsvp Jacelin. They are super cute, aren't they?!

rsvp Lovely

Option numero dos: rsvp Lovely. These are.. lovely. Sparkly heels and just a bit taller than the Jaceline's.

My main issue is that they are two very different colors in real life. The Jaceline's are more of soft teal color, and the Lovely's are more of a bold turquoise. I'm more partial to the bold turquoise on the Lovely's, but am so in love with the style of the Jaceline's.

Ignore my gross toes.

And my pasty-ness.

You know.. just looking at these pictures and the ones of my dress? I feel like I might know which I like better.

But I want your opinions! What do you think? And have you used Zappos yet?

Picture perfect!

The future in-laws were in town for the weekend at the end of March, and there was talk about showing them our venue after I got off work that Sunday.

I was all for this plan, as the last and only time we have been to our venue was the previous June (2010), when we initially toured it and met with the DOC. I figured this would be the perfect chance to reassure myself that I indeed love the place (hey, booking two years out leaves a lot of time for reconsidering!) and to poke around town a bit to find good picture taking locales!

First off, I don't have a personal picture of this (bad blogger), but remember how there are three houses that are a part of the Vandiver?

Well, the Vandiver Mansion was/is greener than it looks in the photo there, but the other houses were definitely white when we first visited last year. Totally fine, whatever, no biggie.. I guess they didn't really look like they were all a part of the same 'complex', but I wasn't worried.

However! The first thing I noticed when we got to Vandiver that Sunday was that they resided and repainted all three houses, so they are all a gorgeous sage green color with accented windows!! It's something small, but it excited me beyond belief. The houses look SO good when they all look the same. So.. major pointage, Vandiver!

We also poked around and found the lighthouse and pier that I'm determined we will be taking pictures at. We were there at dusk in early spring, but fully intended on going back this past June during the day sometime to see exactly what it will look like.

How cute is the area?!

Pictures in front of the light house perhaps?

And maybe a first look on the pier?

Beautiful view where the Susquehanna meets the Chesapeake!

I definitely need to find a way to get pictures on the rocks without getting my dress dirty.

The in-laws!

Oh hai.

I couldn't wait to go back when the trees and grass would be lush and green and get a better idea of how everything would REALLY look!

Did anyone else visit their venue ahead of time to scout out picture locations? Or did you go someplace else entirely for photos?
